Black Friday, the annual shopping event, can be a time to get a good deal. A ‘holiday’ we inherited from the United States, it is typically a combination of huge discounts, heaving shops and indulgence. What you might not know is that some retailers put this extra footfall to a more charitable use!
During the final week of November 2017, under a campaign known as ‘Thanks for Giving’, Fat Face outlets all over the country will be donating a proportion of their takings to charity – instead of offering Black Friday discounts.
The Fat Face branch in Abingdon has proudly selected Oxfordshire Mind to be its charity partner for the second year running. Abingdon Fat Face will also be distributing wellbeing advice to all by having a variety of resources in store including 5 Ways to Wellbeing cards and copies of the Oxfordshire Mind Guide, a directory of local mental health services in Oxfordshire.
Dan Knowles, Oxfordshire Mind CEO, said: “Oxfordshire Mind would like to thank Abingdon Fat Face for raising vital funds and awareness of Oxfordshire Mind. Every penny which is fundraised for Oxfordshire Mind will help us help even more people who are affected by mental health problems.”
Beth Brown-Reid, Oxfordshire Mind South and Vale Manager, said: “It is great to continue our charity partnership with Fat Face Abingdon, we are so grateful to have local businesses support our services and raise awareness around the variety of services which are on offer for local residents.”
Oxfordshire Mind has been providing mental health services to the people of this county for 50 years, and local people of Abingdon have been particularly grateful for the Abingdon Wellbeing Centre and its incredible staff for providing a wide range of services, activities and support.
