Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering. This year Oxfordshire Mind would like to say a special thank you to all our Volunteers and Peer Supporters, for their dedication and support over the past year and throughout the coronavirus crisis.
Message from the Volunteering and Peer Support Team:
“We have been so touched and inspired by the number of people who have come forward to offer their time and expertise throughout this difficult period. About a third of our Volunteers and Peer Supporters have been able to continue helping from home. This has included making phone calls to vulnerable people, supporting online Peer Support Groups and contributing videos and photos to the Walking for Wellbeing virtual newsletter.
As a team, our priority since the start of lockdown has been to support our Volunteers’ and Peer Supporters’ wellbeing. We’ve been providing a regular newsletter, online group sessions and a weekly guided Mindfulness class to provide opportunities for people to stay connected and resourced.
This Volunteers’ Week we are looking forward to seeing some of our Volunteers and Peer Supporters at our online thank you event. We’re focussing on wellbeing this year, with a range of activities for people to enjoy from home including chair yoga, calligraphy, and live music. It’s a small gesture to show how grateful we are for everything our Volunteers and Peer Supporters do for Oxfordshire Mind.”
