Over the last few years, the members and staff at The Mill (one of the Wellbeing Hubs run by Oxfordshire Mind) have been invited to take part in the Cowley Road Carnival. Each year, those who use and run the service get together to design and create their float. The members have a lot of fun both creating the float and participating in the procession on the day. Not only is this a great experience for those who take part, it also provides those involved with the opportunity to raise awareness of the service that means so much to so many.
This year, as the Cowley Road Carnival can’t take place on the road, the organisers are taking the festivities online. From 11am on 5th July, the carnival will be streamed across multiple media straight into your home. There’s plenty planned throughout the day, including a virtual choir, Carnival sing-a-long, dance and drumming workshops and lots, lots more.
Oxfordshire Mind, along with our OMHP partners, Restore, have been chosen as charity partners for this year’s event. Thank you to Cowley Road Works for raising awareness of, and funds for, mental health services in Oxfordshire through their Virtual Carnival. We’re pleased that the carnival will still take place this year, albeit in a very different way to usual, and are thankful for the ongoing support of Cowley Road Works.
