Last week Leo, aged 11, took on the challenge to run 83k in 7 days in aid of Oxfordshire Mind.
Leo took on this challenge as he had seen others come up with great fundraising ideas, and wanted to do something himself. As he was no longer making the weekly 52 mile round trip to Swindon for football practice and games, he gave himself the challenge to run those 52 miles (83km) in 7 days.
Leo said: ‘I would like to raise as [much] money as possible for what I think is a very important charity… I want people to know it’s ok to have mental health issues and it’s ok to talk about it and get help as a man lady or even a child!! I have suffered with anxiety for the past 2 years and have family and friends that suffer with mental health issues and wanted to help a charity that was close to my heart just as much as football 😁’
After setting numerous fundraising targets, and hitting every single one of them, Leo managed to raise an incredible £3,275 for the charity!
On behalf of everyone at Oxfordshire Mind, we’d like to say massive thank you to Leo for taking on this challenge and raising such a wonderful amount for the charity! We are so grateful!
