Breaking the Shell
Mandala share two fictional films about life growing up in ‘care’ at this year’s Berkshire conference
Mandala Theatre Company has worked with young people from Oxfordshire Virtual School’s Children in Care Council to create, write and perform four short films based on the experiences of growing up in care.
The short films are Charlie’s Story, Alex’s Story, Samir’s Story and Breaking the Shell – a montage of monologues where the young people reflect on their own lives, the systems that they have lived in, the shame they have felt as a child in care, the strength and resilience they have developed, their hope for the future and their desire to give voice to all children and young people in care.
Mandala will share two of these films at Youth in Mind Berkshire conference on 18 May at The Globe, Reading West
