On Sunday 16th May, over 30 members of Wilson House at Bloxham School completed a half marathon in aid of Oxfordshire Mind. Jack Dunk, Wilson House’s Captain, explains why they chose to support our local mental health charity.

We chose this charity because we believe that no one should have to suffer in silence and that everybody should be allowed to get the help they need when enough is enough.

– Jack Dunk, Wilson House Captain

Ahead of the run the Assistant Housemaster of Wilson House, Mr Scott de Waymarn, ran early morning training sessions to prepare the boys for the physical challenge that lay ahead:

I personally benefitted from the sessions as it showed me the challenge I would have to face in the coming days before the run.

– Jack Dunk, Wilson House Captain

The team have exceeded their target and have currently raised £2,576 for Oxfordshire Mind.

This year the boys selected the charity [Oxfordshire] Mind as their charity of choice for this year’s fundraising. The half marathon challenge is something that all the boys have bought into and really pushed to make it successful. Even boys who were unable to run, chipped in by marshalling the course and made it really feel like the house was pulling together. I couldn’t be prouder of the boys and what they have achieved for a fantastic charity.
