History has shown that racism has impacted on Black people’s mental health – from diagnosis to access to and quality of services and treatment. It continues to shape the lives and mental health of Black people today. With the disproportionate impact of coronavirus on Black people, it has further shown the inequalities within the system and in turn will have made many people’s mental health worse at an already difficult time.
This October is Black History Month and we want to use this moment to explore these issues. We’ll be doing activity both externally and internally, with our Equality and Inclusion staff network, and with our Partners. We understand that these issues exist far beyond one month and it will take time and all of our efforts to address them.
